Thank you, Gardeners!

Our Garden Group gathered on Saturday, May 2, and prepared the Cutler Memorial Garden for the spring and summer to come. Pruning, raking, sweeping – thank you to all who put in time and love to remove the ravages of the winter storm. Even some neighbors join in with the effort. Steve Spinetto and Jake Sterling provided a hearty breakfast to get things started, and we thank them for serving us with love.  Do take a walk back to this wonderful sanctuary in the midst of Charlestown. Sunday morning services at 8 am will begin again in the Garden, weather permitting.

We’ll Make our Garden Grow – Saturday May 2

For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;
The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come,IMG_0448
and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.

                The Song of Solomon  2:11,12

Well actually, the snow is over and gone. But come make the Cutler Memorial Garden the exquisite jewel that it is by pitching in at  a cleanup day on Saturday May 2.  Breakfast will be served at 8 am, and you can come then or anytime later in the morning to help the Garden Group clean up from the winter storms. Breakfast will be by donation – and you can also come just for that! But we would love to see you for any or all of the morning.

A Green Coffee Hour and Coming Soon, A Green Garden!

Delectable Treats at Coffee Hour

Delectable Treats at Coffee Hour

The St. John ‘s Garden Group was delighted to host the coffee hour on Sunday, March 15. We enjoyed the theme of St. Patrick’s day with items available for purchase, including lollipops, shamrock plants, and shamrock Irish soda bread. We are delighted that we raised $170.00 to be used to maintain the Wolcott Memorial Garden that we love so much. Thank you for your support and for the assistance of Paul Newell, master baker!

We have decided on Wednesday, April 8 at 6:30 pm for a light supper planning meeting at the apartment of Maureen Lavely, 20 Devens Street, Apt. 505 (right across the street from the church). At this meeting we will discuss our goals for the season, including trellis selections to block the new furnace piping, which project into the garden, and other important needs of our wonderful garden. ALL ARE WELCOME. If you are interested in joining us at this meeting, kindly let Maureen know at mglavely@verizon.net.
