Our ECW (Episcopal Church Women) Group Donates Blankets for Those Without Homes

At the last ECW meeting and subsequent email follow-ups, it was voted to help the homeless as they face winter.  On Monday, December 30th, Maureen Lavely delivered ten packages of twelve mylar blankets to The MANNA program, which meets in the basement of St. Paul’s Cathedral, our diocesan cathedral on Tremont Street.  This program is for homeless or former homeless men and women who lead efforts to feed and care for all Boston homeless.  They meet every Monday at 10:00 am for a  “check in” and plan activities.  They will distribute all donated blankets throughout the city.  At noon they host a hot lunch (open to all), and then celebrate a communion service.  The Rev. Tina Rathbone is their spiritual leader.

The pictures show the group meeting, a few pictures showing labels with a handwritten message being applied to each blanket, and Dave and Judy from the group thanking Maureen for our donation.  Our donation was MOST appreciated and there were many “THANKS TO ST. JOHN’S ECW” voiced.
